As a strategic investor in next generation infrastructure, WIND continues to develop its mobile network in Greece to offer its subscribers 5th generation services, creating new prospects for the digital development of the country. Every year we invest around EUR 100 million in next generation infrastructure in both mobile (4G, 5G) and fixed telephony and internet (VDSL, FTTx) and we are developing our proprietary fiber optic network with speeds up to 1Gbps.

In 2020, WIND launched its 5G network, paving a new way for the future of telecommunications in our country. The operation of the network started in Athens and Thessaloniki, and was gradually followed by other major cities in Greece with population coverage exceeding 60% during the first three years.

On 12 January 2022, the transfer of WIND Hellas’ shares to United Group was completed. The completion of the acquisition by United Group is an excellent development for WIND Hellas, as the integration into the leading telecommunications and media group in Southeastern Europe significantly enhances the company’s competitiveness, strengthens its presence in the Greek market and enriches the services it offers to Greek consumers and businesses.
